Seismic architecture

Seismic architecture (also called earthquake architecture) is the implementation of architectural decisions, creations, or ideas to accommodate for earthquakes. It also means, exploring architecture and its possibilities, through the principles of earthquake engineering.Seismic architecture is an approach to architectural design that draws upon earthquake engineering design issues as a significant source of inspiration. It is not perceived as a new architectural movement or style, and mostly depends on architects' knowledge of how earthquakes affect building structures, structural seismic systems, etc. and their expression of some aspect of earthquake action or resistance. This knowledge can be used as an inspiration for architectural creations. The wide breadth of expressive possibilities ranges from metaphorical exploration of seismic issues, to the more straightforward exposure of seismic technology or seismic structural systems. There are very few books worldwide about this topic, though authors who have contributed to professional literature include Christopher Arnold, Bob Reithermann, Andrew Charleson,Teresa Guevara Perez and Mentor Llunji.
